What is Fiber?
A Next-Generation Internet Solution
Fiber internet uses thin strands of glass to transmit data as light signals, enabling faster speeds and greater capacity for more users and devices. These cables are typically housed in protective conduits and buried underground, making them more durable and resistant to weather disruptions. Often, fiber works in tandem with wireless technology to deliver a stronger, more reliable internet connection.

Where Is Fiber Available?
Building the Future, One Community at a Time
Bug Tussel is actively expanding fiber infrastructure in select areas. Whether there’s a network plan in place, construction underway, or live service already available, you might be closer to fiber than you think! Contact us or use our interactive map to check your eligibility.
Fiber Network Timeline
What to Expect and When
Building a fiber network is a complex process that involves planning, funding, permitting, construction, and final activation. Much like constructing a highway system, it takes time and coordination—often several years—to move from concept to live service. Even after construction is completed, additional steps like splicing, testing, and activating the network can delay service availability by several months.
Not all areas that see construction will receive service right away. Fiber networks typically begin with a high-capacity backbone (Middle Mile) that connects major hubs, sometimes bypassing smaller neighborhoods. If local coordination and future planning allow, later phases—called distribution (Last Mile)—can extend service into residential areas, requiring similar resources and timelines.
